In 2008, we opened our first European factory in the Czech Republic to produce the award winning i30. The most modern automotive plant on the continent, its state of the art technologies and waste management systems ensure our impact on the local environment is kept to a minimum.

In fact, we were thinking about the local eco-system before work on the plant even began. Instead of cutting down over a thousand trees when groundworks started on the 200 hectare site in 2006, we removed them to an interim on-site location where they were cared for by a team of gardeners. Once the building work was complete, the trees were restored to their permanent locations.
