Safety
We take your safety just as seriously as you do, which is why the i40 is packed with features to keep you and your passengers as secure as possible. In fact, we've given your safety so much consideration that no matter whether you're the driver or a passenger, you're well protected.
Vehicle Stability Management
The i40 cleverly employs a range of passive safety features designed to keep you safe by constantly monitoring road conditions. For example, the Vehicle Stability Management system detects grip levels when braking on mixed surfaces and maintains traction and stability by applying both steering and brake assistance.
Airbags
To make sure that you and your passengers are fully protected we've installed plenty of interior safety equipment into the i40. There are seven airbags, including one at the driver's knee, along with supportive active front head restraints. Reminder signals make sure you fasten your seatbelts, while in the back the two outer seats have ISOfix child seat anchor points.
Xenon headlights
You'll get a perfect view of the road at all times with the i40's Vision pack. Xenon headlights illuminate the way, and they also come with an adaptive front lighting system which includes dynamic leveling, automatic range adjustment and dynamic curve lighting for optimum visibility and safety when driving in the dark.
ESP ABS and EBD
The Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) constantly monitors the car's behaviour, controlling the brake pressure to each wheel and managing engine power output during acceleration and braking on low friction road surfaces. Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) allow you to maintain steering capability in emergency braking conditions by preventing loss of steering control, while the Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) distributes the braking force to meet the road conditions.
